A solution looking for a problem, and poor wrenches, May 29, 2012 By  Sloan2010 (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: TRP CX9 Linear Pull Bicycle Brake Set (Misc.) Never had a problem locking up either wheel with correctly adjusted cantis. These brakes grab and have lousy modulation. A good solution I guess for those lacking the basic wrenching skills needed to properly set up canti brakes which are typically lighter, modulate much better and stop a bike just fine. This occurs whether the part is fastened to the bike or not. Careless manufacturing. Maybe I just got the odd bad set, but I don't' think I will chance a swap for the same item. This review is from: TRP CX9 Linear Pull Bicycle Brake Set (Misc.) Braking is solid and seems to stop well, not as strong as disc brakes, but much more powerful than canti brakes. Clearance between rim and brake pad is tight so true wheels are a must, about 3mm of room to work with. Other important selling points; Easy to set up and no chatter when braking, a cheaper alternative to a cyclocross bike with disc brakes...
